Before You Order
- Included: One M5Stack ATOM Lite with ESPresense firmware installed.
- Required: A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, an MQTT broker running on a separate host, and supported Bluetooth devices to monitor. Home Assistant or another compatible system is needed to turn presence data into automations.
- Power: Requires a USB-C cable and USB power source; neither is included.
- Setup: Configure Wi-Fi, MQTT, room identity, and supported device enrollment. Placement and calibration are required.

Presence Information for Your Own Smart Home
This compact ESPresense node observes supported Bluetooth Low Energy signals and reports device presence and signal-based distance estimates over MQTT. Use it as part of a configured system for room-aware lighting, dashboards, and other home automations.
What It Does
- Uses the ATOM Lite's onboard Bluetooth radio; no external radio module or soldering is required.
- Publishes supported device observations to your MQTT broker.
- Can be deployed with additional nodes to provide observations from multiple rooms.
Compatibility and Limits
This listing includes one node, not a complete multi-room positioning system. A single node does not establish reliable whole-home room location. Signal-based distance estimates are approximate and are affected by walls, placement, device orientation, and radio interference. Some phones and wearables require enrollment or configuration to handle changing Bluetooth identifiers.
This is not a motion or mmWave sensor: a person without a supported transmitting device may not be detected. Use it for your own devices or with the device owner's permission.

Firmware and Support
